Cleaning Granite
Granite is a stone that is tough and is formed from magma as a result of a volcanic activity. Granite is often used for building purposes and has been rated as one of the greatest building stones, second only to diamond. The stone comes in lovely colors and is very attractive especially for countertops. However, not cleaning granite makes it dull and unattractive.
To start the process of cleaning granite, one will be required to have; granite cleaner or a natural stone, a sponge or a soft cloth, a large bowl or bucket. Others materials that are necessary in cleaning granite are neutral dishwashing fluid, a micro fiber cloth and warm water. The person cleaning granite should first add a small amount of dishwashing liquid into a large bowl or bucket that is full of warm water and stir until the formation of suds. The next step in cleaning granite will be to wet a piece of clothe or sponge with water that has soap and then mop the soapstone meticulously. After this, rinse the cloth or sponge with hot water wiping any soapstone surface residue. If when cleaning granite, one realizes that the surface is still dull and has streaks, it may mean that soap residue is still present. This should prompt the cleaner to rinse the cloth or sponge in hot water and then wring it properly so as to remove any excess water and then clean the surface again. Continue with the procedure of cleaning granite by drying the surface and using a micro fiber cloth. Cleaning granite may periodically call for one to use granite cleaner or a natural stone to bring back a shiny effect.
Sometimes the one cleaning granite may do so to remove stains as the stone is porous. To start cleaning granite so as to remove stains, one should first blot at the stain as opposed to rubbing it as this would just help the stain to spread. If one ignores cleaning granite and allows the stain to stay for a longer time, it will get ingrained in the stone and removing it will be nearly impossible.

Also one should never place alcohol or citrus products on any granite surface as it will just dull it and cleaning granite will be harder. Another important tip regarding cleaning granite is that one should use granite cleaner on granite flooring. Cleaning granite should not be an occasional act but its surfaces should be dusted and swept daily to enhance maintenance.
Cleaning granite isn’t a complicated process and can be completed quickly. One should however make sure that the surfaces are protected from acidic substances such as vinegar. To ease the process of cleaning granite, the surface should be regularly maintained. At least once a week, one should engage in cleaning granite by wiping the surfaces with a wet sponge and neutral stone cleaner.
