What a marble maintenance kit is really keeping up with
Marble is calcium carbonate, and calcium carbonate reacts to acid the way baking soda reacts to vinegar – it fizzes, dissolves, and leaves a dull etch mark behind. Coffee, wine, citrus, and most bathroom cleaners are acidic enough to do this over time. A marble maintenance kit exists because most of that dulling can be reversed with a pH-neutral cleaner and a light manual polish, long before a floor or counter needs the heavier cutting power of a powered buffer.
Maintenance kit vs. a buffer kit
Our marble restoration and marble buffer kits are built for surfaces with real damage – deep etching, years of wear, or a first-time refinish. This marble maintenance kit is for stone that’s already in good condition and just needs to stay that way: a marble-safe cleaner, a light polish worked in by hand or with a standard pad, and a sealer. It’s less product, less effort per session, and the right fit for most kitchens and bathrooms on a routine maintenance schedule.
Working through the marble maintenance kit
Start with the included cleaner to lift soap film and surface grime – this alone resolves most cloudiness. Follow with the polish in small circular motions using a soft cloth, then buff to a shine with a clean microfiber towel. Finish with sealer on any natural stone that hasn’t been sealed in the last 6-12 months, since a sealed surface resists the next spill instead of absorbing it.
Keeping the results between kits
Wipe up spills – especially acidic ones – right away instead of letting them sit. Use coasters and trivets on marble counters, and stick to pH-neutral, marble-safe cleaners for daily wiping; ordinary all-purpose sprays are usually acidic enough to undo a polish over time.
Marble maintenance kit questions we get asked
Do I need the buffer or SF version instead? Only if the stone already shows visible etching, scratching, or dullness a light polish won’t clear, or if it’s one of the marble species that needs special-formula chemistry.
How often should I use it? A full pass every 3-6 months works for most kitchens, with spot cleaning as needed in between.
Does it work on quartz or marble-look porcelain? No – it’s formulated for natural, acid-sensitive stone, which has different care needs than engineered surfaces.

Spoke with you today regarding your phenomenal product. I ordered your marble refinishing kit and it arrived yesterday evening. Started this morning on my marble-topped table (antique). My father, forty years ago, used this table in his garage as a “work bench”. There were saw gashes on it, along with a multitude of paint stains (of the lead variety, I’m sure), rust stains, grease marks and a plethora of unknowns. Undaunted, I began my journey: first the heaviest grade of sandpaper with an eccentric orbital sander then on to the finer grades. This process was done in my garage on my work bench (not another marble-topped table), so there was dust around when I finished (nothing new there), but what I ended up with was nothing short of a masterpiece. The marble glistened, reflected light and felt like a newly-waxed car to the touch. Your products are exactly what they are supposed to be and do exactly what they’re supposed to do – if not more ! I thank you and I’m sure, when my wife returns from a trip tomorrow, she’ll thank you as well. I actually wish I had other marble-topped tables to refinish – it was truly a pleasure.
