What a granite polish does that a cleaner cannot

Cleaning removes what is sitting on the surface. A granite polish works on the surface itself. Over years of use the polished finish on a granite counter loses a little of its reflectivity – not because it is dirty, but because traffic, grit and the wrong cleaners have taken the crispness off it. That is why a counter can be spotlessly clean and still look flat.

This product does two jobs at once. It brings the reflectivity back, and it leaves a protective finish that helps the surface shed the next spill instead of drinking it. Where granite polish fits in your routine

The order matters. Polishing a dirty counter grinds soil into the finish, and sealing after polishing can leave the sealer struggling to penetrate.

How to apply it

Start with a surface that is clean and completely dry. Apply a small amount with a soft cotton cloth or paper towel and work in sections rather than trying to do a whole island at once. Buff it out thoroughly – the buffing is what produces the shine, so do not rush that part. Change cloths as they load up.

A 4 ounce jar goes a long way because it is applied thinly. On a busy kitchen counter, reapplying every few months keeps the finish even; a guest bathroom vanity will go a year or more.

Granite polish questions we get asked

Is this the same as a sealer? No. This is a polish and protector that works at the surface. A penetrating sealer soaks into the stone. They complement each other.

Will it remove a stain? No. A stain that has soaked in needs our Granite Poultice to draw it back out.

Can I use it on marble? This one is formulated for granite. Marble is softer and acid sensitive, so use our Marble Polish and Protector instead.

Will it make the counter slippery? Buffed out properly it should not, but take care if you are treating a granite floor and buff thoroughly.

How often should I use it? Every few months on a hard working kitchen counter; far less often on low traffic surfaces.
