Who buys the sanding disks 25 pack
The 15 pack suits a homeowner working through one kitchen or a couple of bathrooms. The sanding disks 25 pack is for bigger jobs and for people who do this more than once: marble floors, whole house restorations, contractors and stone care professionals. Buying a sanding disks 25 pack also drops the cost per disk, which matters when abrasives are the consumable that runs out first on a large job.
Why the disk matters as much as the compound
People think of the polishing compound as the product and the abrasive as an accessory. In practice the disk does at least half the work. It holds the slurry against the stone, carries the compound evenly across the surface, and decides whether you finish with a uniform result or a patchy one. A worn, loaded or glazed disk will make a perfectly good compound look like it is failing.
Change a disk when the face has glazed over and stopped biting, when it loads with slurry faster than it used to, or when an area is taking noticeably longer than the same job did last time. Having a sanding disks 25 pack on the shelf is what makes that an easy decision rather than an irritating one.
Using the sanding disks 25 pack on stone
These are hook and loop backed and fit any compatible 6 inch backing pad on a rotary or orbital machine. Keep the slurry wet throughout – a drying slurry stops cutting and starts smearing, which is the usual cause of an uneven pass. Work in overlapping passes rather than concentrating on one spot, and rinse thoroughly afterwards.
They pair with our Marble Gloss Restorer for removing etch marks from polished marble, limestone and travertine, and with the Marble Polishing Kit if you would rather buy everything together. Finish with Marble Polish and Protector so the restored surface resists the next spill.
Looking after them between jobs
Rinse each disk thoroughly under clean running water as soon as you finish, before compound dries into it. Let them dry completely before storing, and store them flat and out of direct sunlight. Looked after, a disk will see several jobs; put away damp or loaded with dried compound, it is finished.
